The 2nd Asian Ice Hockey Championship
The UAE national team for ice hockey achieved a great accomplishment by winning the title of the 2nd Asian Ice Hockey Championship after defeating the national team of Thailand 5-3.
The 2nd Asian Ice Hockey Championship was held in Abu Dhabi under the patronage of HH Sheikh Hazza Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the National Security Advisor and the Chairman of Abu Dhabi Sports Council.
The championship was organized by the UAE Ice Hockey Association in collaboration with Abu Dhabi Sports Council (ADSC) and was held in the period 15-20 March 2009.
8 teams took part in this championship and all of them praised the highly professional way in which the championship was organized
In the final match of the championship, the UAE team won the title after they played in a professional manner defeating the Thai team 5-3.
The first period of the match ended in a goalless draw. In the second half, the UAE scored three times while Thailand scored 2.
In the last period the Thai team equalized 3/3 before UAE scores twice to make it 5-3 as the final result to win the crown of the championship.
